What could be better than teaching early years? 

Teaching early years while working for Sesame Street!

A couple of years ago I was really proud to be involved in putting together some teaching materials for Sesame Tree, a ground breaking project produced by Sesame Workshops and financed by The American Ireland Fund. 

Studies have shown that children as young as three years of age in Northern Ireland hold sectarian beliefs.

The aim of the project is to foster feelings of respect, tolerance and understanding in young children across Northern Ireland. Episodes include short films based in schools across the province and provide opportunities for children from different religious and cultural backgrounds to appreciate traditions across the divide.

With the launch of the revised Northern Ireland Curriculum, we worked as a team to produce activities in line with the latest statutory requirements. Last week I got a telephone call about creating some more teaching resources for brand new episodes in May/June...I can't wait!
